Paul Lucas Productions is seeking Equity and Non-Equity actors of all gender identities and ethnicities for Trans Scripts – Part One, a play by Paul Lucas based on interviews conducted with over 70 people of transgender experience in the United States, Europe and Australia. $3,000 stipend for each Equity or Non-Equity actor for full contract.
Free housing in Edinburgh and free flights to and from Edinburgh.

Core cast may be replaced by guest stars for a limited number of select performances.

All characters identify as female.

EDEN: Born intersex, 30’s – to 40s, from Northern England. Intelligent, angry, funny, lesbian. Has a history of abuse. Not comfortable with presenting hyper-feminine, presents like a gay man. (please prepare a Northern English dialect)

JOSEPHINE: Australian trans female, 50’s – 60s. Intelligent, specific with spatial relations, emotionally fragile, self-effacing, nervous, depressed, warm. Early in transition. (please prepare an Australian dialect)

SANDRA: Trans female, 60s. Intelligent, introspective, measured, an overtly feminine and measured tone covers a working class New York accent.

ZAKIA: African American trans female, mid 30’s. Social Worker by Day, Beauty Contestant and Drag Style Performer by Night. Intelligent, glamorous, frank, funny, deeply religious and principled.

MARIAH: Hispanic trans female, 20’s. Intelligent, confident, passionate, transgender rights activist and sex worker, feisty, proud.
